greg schappert aka donor (brooklyn, ny) and tom russell aka truss (london, uk) first came into contact sometime towards the end of 2006. it didnt take long to realize that they had an immediate understanding of one anothers musical background and desired direction. finding that connection has resulted in the two continuing to work together on many joint projects, varying their style between more deep and hypnotic minimal techno to the more driving industrial style techno that they both grew up listening to.

>the cockpit< is my personal favourite song of the chelonis album and it has taken my sleepless night (and days) to watch out for the right remixers. now that all new versions are ready, i m more than happy because all three fellows have felt the real vibe of the original song. a spezial thanx to ekkohaus who delivered two different mixes and spent a lot of energy and passion into these productions. and also merci to steve rachmad and paul woolford, guys who stand rather for techno, however improved their soul into creating passionated tech house! chapeau! donovan is a french parisian duo consisting of david saïd and nicolas nekmouche, formed in 2007. influenced by black music, french touch and techno as much as contemporary artists, donovan created an original sound, melodic and also very club, with tracks like >breakin, released on work it baby, a track featuring jessica rizzo released on gigolo records etc. so combining their respective influences, they obtain tracks full of energy and depth. the band hits the bulls eye and remixes requests start to pour in. among them two tracks of sebastien tellier for record makers, teenage bad girl, arnaud rebotini and several rock bands. dont pass on this one !

a little less than two and a half years after its conception—and close to 30 singles, one compilation, one mix cd and one sublabel later—berlins mobilee releases its first artist album. naturally, who better to represent the milestone than pan-pot, who so far have delivered five essential singles to mobilee, helping to anchor the ever-shifting sound of one of europes most exciting labels. in just two short years, with 10 singles (for mobilee and einmaleins musik) and lots of remixes, theyve become known far and wide for their distinctive, groovy, and above all ominous sound. pan-o-rama finds the boys stretching that sound in every possible direction: twisting, tearing, and using the shreds to drag a wide swath of techno history into the future (and, just maybe, to drag a few pieces of techno future back into the past). call it minimal if you must, but this aint no clickity-clack shit. you can hear the agonized gurgle of isolationist acid, reminiscent of plastikmans darkest nights. you can hear the percolating urgency of classic bleep techno. tried and true hardware collides with restless digital experimentation as dance musics dna worms its way into twisted new shapes. pan-o-rama is dark, thats for damned sure. eerie vocals that seem to come from within the listeners own head creep across the stereo field. throughout, restrained minor-key melodies conjure 21st century noir, and a relentless low-end rumble seems to suck up all the light around it

polytone remains in deep territories and has signed two of the most exciting tracks of drei farben house (brut!) so far. on final call the berlin resident succeeds in building a bridge between minimal aesthetics and the musicality of deep house which has rarely been heard in this form. in this 8-minute track a whole series of musical themes are flashing yet held together by a lot of instinctive feeling. on looking back to control drei farben house is just as deep and melodically interesting and again relies on unusual track structures. in his remix matthias vogt from motorcitysoul works out the chords and melody themes of the original even more and turns final call into an exciting, swelling affair whereas newcomer baldo (dubhe) transforms the original track into a brilliant and wonderfully classic piece of dubtechno.

spectrum recordings returns after the summer months with a fantastic deep dark two tracker to take us into those shorter nights of the year from italian duo ascion & davide carbone. the a side >shaved< is a stripped down dubby groover, with eerie vocal stabs and spacey edits. this has a seriously tripped out vibe, which is perfect for the after hours, but still with more then enough punch to work at peak time, with some layered percussion or effects. the flip side >spectral town< is a minimal funky track, superbly produced and once again perfect for the after hours. a very cool and classy record from a label stamping its mark on the scene, and still only in its first year of releasing music. look out for future releases from ramon tapia, gui boratto and alan fitzpatrick. big things to come!
